Being a Professional, a soft skill?

Being a Professional, a soft skill?

This week I explore what it means to be a “professional” based on the work of Nido Qubein and his five attributes of professionals which are: A specialized knowledge and skills, a unique relationship with their clients, render a service that people are willing to pay for, are held accountable for that service and finally, have a professional attitude. Is professionalism a soft skill? There are some who say it is. I’m not so sure. For me professionalism is how you demonstrate and use the soft skills of communication: listening, showing empathy, networking, self-confidence, and giving and receiving feedback. This is one of the topics in my new eBook “What Are these Things called Soft Skills?”

John K Whitehead & Associates coaches individuals and organizations in becoming more effective by helping them improve their interpersonal communications, emotional intelligence and resiliency. You can read my blog at https://johnkwhitehead.ca
