Being a Professional, a soft skill?

This week I explore what it means to be a “professional” based on the work of Nido Qubein and his five attributes of professionals which are: A specialized knowledge and skills, a unique relationship with their clients, render a service that people are willing to pay for, are held accountable for that service and finally, have a professional attitude. Is professionalism a soft skill? There are some who say it is. I’m not so sure. For me professionalism is how you demonstrate and use the soft skills of communication: listening, showing empathy, networking, self-confidence, and giving and receiving feedback. This is one of the topics in my new eBook “What Are these Things called Soft Skills?”

John K Whitehead & Associates coaches individuals and organizations in becoming more effective by helping them improve their interpersonal communications, emotional intelligence and resiliency. You can read my blog at https://johnkwhitehead.ca

Why Do You Do These Blogs/Vlogs?”

This is a question I get asked every once and awhile, what is my ROI, why spend the time producing these? There are two definite reasons for me and why I believe it is important. In this weeks episode I explore this question and provide my reasons. Also, don’t forget to sign up for this weekly Vlog and get a free copy of my eBook “What Are These Things Called Soft Skills?”

Subtitles, eBook plus… why?

This week’s vlog “Subtitles, eBook plus… why I do this blog/vlog”, introduces using subtitles (actually surtitles in this case). Are You Enabling Employees to Depend on You?

One of the most frequently complaints I hear from leaders is that about time management – they never seem to find time to get stuff done. In my coaching with them, I often learn that they are spending a lot of time responding to employees coming into their offices asking for help with problems they are facing. In this weeks Vlog post I talk about a solution to that particular time waster… how can you solve it?
