The Leadership Challenge: A personal review

This wasFor 33 weeks I systematically did a personal deep dive into the work of Jim Kouzes and Barry Moore, The Leadership Challenge: How to make extraordinary things happen in organizations. This was my interpretation of what I took from this amazing leadership book. As I talk about, this work had a significant impact on my own leadership journey, so much so that I completed the Facilitator training and also became an LPI coach so that I could not only understand the model better but so that I could use the principles in my professional coaching practice.

The LPI360 is the leadership assessment that comes with The Leadership Challenge Model. Kouzes and Posner took the five leadership practices, Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act & Encourage the Heart, that they observed leaders engaging in to make extraordinary things happen in organizations, and attributed six behaviours to each practice. These are behaviours most of us do in leadership roles, but it’s the frequency at which we do them that has the most impact.
